When I heard about Dream Body 23 minutes exercise  for the first time I thought it is the usual marketing concept and I was reluctant to call and visit. Few weeks later I read some members’ testimonials of their experiences with dream body center that encouraged me to call and book an appointment for trial.

Following my first trial I was convinced of the 23 minutes concept and decided to be a member at dream body. I Joined on 26 July 2011 and managed to exercise during fasting hours in Ramadhan. After a month I was amazed with the result of my first measurements, I managed to reduce 5KG and 2″ from my waist with a total of more than 8″ reduction from the total body. managing to eat healthy during Ramadhan was a grate support to have such result.

The measurement after the first month was an incentive to continue my exercises and with just 23 minutes workout I can’t find and excuse not to spare time to be fit. Today after two months of joining dream body it can’t be better than loosing 8KG and a total of more than 14″ from my whole body.

Today I have my body shaped in the way that I dreamed off. What I am certain  off is that I will continue to exercise at dream body to maintain what I have achieved in a very short time with the help of dream body team.

On a final note I just want to say thank you to dream body team and to the founder for their existence and bringing this concept of workout to help people realize the objective of being fit and healthy.

Today, I’m extremely proud to announce the promotion of Falakonian extraordinaire Saba Saleem to General Manager of the DreamBody Centre (DBC).

I first met Saba back in 2003 or 2004.  My only business at the time was Zen-Do (my former martial arts school) and I was located in a converted squash room in our family compound.  Zen-Do was growing fast and I needed someone to help me with the admin.

I put out and advert for “Membership Assistant”, and one of the applicants was this confident and slightly cocky Pakistani girl.  During the interview I remember asking her a question related to tidiness, and she replied saying something like “I’m very messy but I always get things done.”

Now, this is where Saba and I remember things differently.  As I remember it, I never made her an offer, and eventually hired someone else.  Saba says that I did make her an offer, which she politely rejected.  Anyway, not that it matters now.

Fast forward to 2007, and former DBC GM Gero Presser and I are interviewing candidates for the soon to be opened DreamBody Centre. And who applied?  That cocky Pakistani girl!

She did well in the interview and got hired as a “Circuit Advisor”.  I think she stayed in that position for a year or so until I moved her to Zen-Do as Membership Advisor.  She stayed there for about a year, and did so well in that position that I promoted her to Operations Manager for both DBC and Zen-Do.  Her title was soon expanded to “Marketing and Operations Manager”, covering both Zen-Do and DBC.

Well, today she was promoted to General Manager, a position that was vacant for about a year and a half.  What I love about Saba is her pro-activeness and her “can-do” attitude.  She is quietly confident (still a bit cocky) and full of enthusiasm.  She has the ability to see the big picture of the business, and yet still have great attention to detail; a quality that – as most entrepreneurs will attest to – is very rare among hired guns.  Her usual response to tasks given is “sure I can do that.”

She garners respect both from the of the DBC Team as well as our valuable members.  She is, along with Financial Controller and Admin Manager Gemma Austria, an invaluable member of my inner circle.

Weight Loss and Fitness Facility Announces New General Manager

The DreamBody Centre, a brand owned by Falak Enterprises WLL, has appointed a new General Manager. “I’m extremely proud to announce the promotion of Ms. Saba Saleem from Marketing and Operations Manager to General Manager,” said Suhail Algosaibi, Founder and CEO of the DreamBody Centre.

Saba Saleem, a Bahrain-born Pakistani national, was one of the first employees of the DreamBody Centre and joined back in 2007.  She has worked as a Circuit Advisor in the DreamBody Centre, and then worked for a year in the Zen-Do Bahrain Kickboxing Club as a Membership Advisor, this was followed by a promotion to Marketing and Operations Manager for both Zen-Do and the DreamBody Centre.

“I’m so proud and thankful to be given this promotion!” said Ms. Saleem.  “I’d like to thank Suhail Algosaibi for this opportunity.  It’s a big responsibility but I’m confident that I’m up to the task, and that we will achieve the dream of franchising the DreamBody Centre regionally and internationally, and making it a globally recognised brand,” added Saba Saleem.

They were done by PICO International’s Bahrain office.  after a bit of back and forth with them, we finally have the right look and feel.  I think they captured our corporate look and feel perfectly.

This news item will be good news for most of our readers, but maybe disappointing for others. Let me explain….

You know, we’ve been wanting to open a DreamBody Centre (DBC) in, or near Manama for a very long time, and we’ve had people requesting it for ages.  But we’ve never found a good location.  Our main criteria for opening a DBC are:

1) A relatively busy area with a high population density.

2) A good “showroom” space on a main road.

3) Ample parking.

Can you believe that these three criteria are almost impossible to find these days?  There is a huge shortage in Bahrain of decent showrooms with sufficient parking (while there is an over supply of luxury villas and offices).  One of the main reasons we had to close down our Seef district branch was because parking spaces were becoming very scarce.

So after looking for a long time, we finally found an excellent location in the Bahrain Mall.  We found a nice place with 486 sq. m of space.  Also, the Bahrain Mall has the highest number of parking spaces per 100 sq. m of retail space.  Now I know some of you might be worried about going to work out in a mall, but let me assure you that the location is easy to get to, and quite discrete.  We’ll even have our very own entrance into the mall, as we’re taking one of the fire exits as our personal entrance.

I think this will be good for most of our members as they’ve been complaining about how far Hamala is.  It will also be good for us as we’ll benefit from the traffic in the mall.

The down side is that we’ll actually close down our Hamala branch, so some of our members who live in the area will be disappointed.  But to be honest in today’s economic environment, it just doesn’t make sense to have two locations.

One of Bahrain’s most well known fitness and weight loss centres is moving to a new location.  The DreamBody Centre, Bahrain’s first and only 23 minute weight loss and fitness centre will move from Hamala to the Bahrain Mall.  The move is expected to take place in the next couple of months.

“We’ve had people asking as for a long time to move closer to the capital,” said DreamBody Centre founder Suhail Algosaibi.  “But we’ve always had a problem in finding a good location, as most retail outlets lack sufficient parking.  We finally found an excellent space in the Bahrain Mall, which also has the highest ratio of parking spaces per 100 sq. m of retail space of any mall in Bahrain,” added Mr. Algosaibi.
“We are very excited to have the DreamBody Centre come into our mall,” said Bahrain Mall Manager Michael Simmelink.  “I have no doubt that our mall will serve the new centre’s needs very well, and will complement our existing portfolio of retail stores very well,” added Mr. Simmelink.

Thirty eight years ago, on the 26th of May 1973, I was born to a Saudi father and a German mother, in the sleepy industrial city of Offenbach, in Hessen, Germany.  The old cliche is true, time does fly!

I had a wonderful childhood in Riyadh, and came to Bahrain in 1985.  I was twelve when we came here, and I have to say I loved growing up here.  I’m very proud to call this wonderful land my home.

And like everyone else, I’m deeply saddened by the terrible crisis we went through recently.  My heart bleeds for my adopted country and it’s people.  It will take us a long time to get over this, but I think we can and we will get over this crisis.
If we as a society work hard together -- and ignore the haters -- we can rebuild Bahrain into a better and stronger society than it ever was. And it is with that in mind that I’d like to make my birthday offer to you:

Last week I was interviewed by the online radio programme Dare to Be Healthy, hosted by none other than Alia Almoyaed – my wife. The topic was weight loss in minutes, where I spoke about the concept of the DreamBody Centre.

Unfortunately, the call took place on Tuesday the 14th of February (it was planned weeks ahead) the day the protests in Bahrain started.  If you recall, the internet was super slow that day, and the sound quality was not that good.  Also, we got cut off once or twice, and some bits of the call were not recorded.  Having said that, I still think you’ll find a lot of value in the information contained.

Happy Sara in her car!

An now for some non Lulu Roundabout news…  Last week , I announced the Grand Prize winner of the DreamBody Competition.  Here’s the video of the press conference and the car handover, as well as the interview I conducted with Sara.

As you’ll see from the video, Sara was very determined and consistent, and entered three competitions!  She definitely deserved to win!

Yes, we finally have a winner!  Can you believe it, it’s almost been a year since we announced the DreamBody Competition!  And we finally have a grand prize winner, Sara Smith!

Sara is a 27 year old Bahraini executive administrator (father is British Malaysian, and mother is Bahraini)  She entered all three competitions last year, and did an amazing job!  She has lost 13.6 kg of weight and over 19 inches of fat from her body, isn’t that amazing?  The DBC even helped her beat diabetes!  Here’s what she wrote in her competition essay:

In 2002, I was diagnosed with “insulin resistance” which is considered a pre-diabetic stage. I was lucky enough that I was at a stage that did not require insulin shots. I just needed to take tablets to control it and work on losing weight, as well as eating a healthy diet. Since then, my family and doctor have always been pushing me to lose weight, and I did try but I was never able to lose enough. In the back of my mind I always thought of it as a “loosing battle” and I was preparing myself for when I progress into actual Type II Diabetes. I was even more shocked when my doctor informed me in 2009 that my cholesterol level was too high, and another tablet to control it was prescribed to me. Again my family and doctor reinforced the importance of exercise and a healthy lifestyle in controlling Diabetes and High Cholesterol levels.

I joined DBC just before the first competition started. I joined thinking I have nothing to lose, but I did not believe that I had a chance in winning. Although I was not in it to win it, I worked out at DBC almost every day. I was however surprised that within 3 months I lost a lot of weight! So for the second competition I changed my game plan. I worked on controlling my food intake, drank more water and tried to make better health choices. As the weeks and months passed, I felt and saw the difference in myself, physically and emotionally, and I was so happy to see at the end of the last competition that I was considered as a contender.

For this last competition, I worked on maintaining my results and improving them. Although I am happy with my results, I don’t know if I have a chance in the competition as I have seen my competitors; and they look amazing! I could see the changes in them too, as were all progressing through this journey. Regardless, I am thrilled with my results, I have achieved all my personal goals; as in addition to losing weight, in November 2010 my doctor informed me that “I beat my diabetes!” and that my cholesterol levels are back to normal. I no longer required to take medications. I was so excited I could not believe it!

What I have learned in my weight loss journey, is that you can only achieve your dream results by working out and eating healthy, at the same time. The process of losing weight or as I like to call it “getting healthy” is not easy, you have to start by making a conscious choice of wanting to LIVE and FEEL HEALTHY and then committing to your decision. You also need a lot of support, I couldn’t have done it without my family, my doctor, the DBC staff cheering me and pushing me to achieve better results. This competition at the DBC helped me to stick with the program, and for that I thank you for helping me reach my dreams.
