" Add to that denial and shame. Denial that a family member or so and so, could really do that to a child, let alone their own blood. Denial that child abuse does happen on a large scale in our society. Shame and reproach brought on the abused as if they are to blame. If only they din't talk, look, dress a certain way. Shame of how the family will be viewed and the child's future prospect ruined. Ignorance in believe that sexual abuse is a one time deal on the part of the abuser.
